Telestream Switch 4 Pro (Upgrade 4 Player) Mac
Telestream Switch 4 Pro is designed for broadcast and media QC professionals and provides the tools to efficiently play, QC, fix, and deliver files. Switch 4 Pro adds improved performance, expanded file support, OP-47/OP-42 Teletext caption playback, and team collaboration.
Switch 4 Pro allows you to play an extensive list of media files (including captions and subtitles) with smooth frame accuracy. After playback, you can inspect video and audio properties, captions, subtitles, and loudness. Make the changes you want, such as trim, scale, crop, rearrange audio tracks, change speaker assignments, and rewrap or encode your media. Then use the iTunes export preset to easily create an asset-only iTunes store package, complete with content and XML file. There's also support for external preview via an SDI output.
Note: Telestream Premium Support Mandatory First Year for Switch Pro is required to be purchased along with Switch Pro. Proof of purchase of the support plan will be requested from you when activating Switch Pro.
Performance
Improved Performance
Particular attention was given to the performance of caption decoding and making sure efficient use is made of file system reads and writes, as well as only decoding the data that is actually needed.
Growing File Support
The ability to open files and play them back while they are still being written to disk enables live capture workflows that include previewing the quality of live video captures, extracting portions of the already written video for use in social media promotion of live productions, and the ability to confirm the media encoding of content coming from live capture systems.
OP-47/OP-42 Teletext Captions
Switch Pro is capable of decoding and displaying OP-47 and OP-42 Teletext captions. This support maintains format parity with Telestream's caption authoring tools — MacCaption and CaptionMaker — and will enable users to play back their captions and view them to confirm positioning, styling, and sync accuracy without the need for expensive hardware decoders.
Team Collaboration
Collaboration feature allows users to create and view flags on the timeline that contain comments, errors, or feedback. Share these flags between team members using a sidecar flags file to allow collaboration to occur without making any changes to the video. Simple to understand formatting of the flags document allows for automation systems to be able to create reports that can be reviewed and visualized on the timeline.
Play Features
Plays Professional File Formats
Frame-accurate playback of professional media files, including embedded captions and subtitles. Multi-format playback support includes support for MXF, IMF, GXF, MPEG-2 Program Streams and Transport Streams, and formats such as MOV, MP4, WMV. Switch Pro can also play HEVC and 4K, DNxHD, and JPEG2000 files.
Playback Controls
Switch Pro has all the playback control features you'd expect in a professional player, such as JKL navigation, fast forward and rewind, slow motion, and single-frame forward and back. "Jump To" allows you to jump to a specific timecode, frame, or time in your video.
Full Caption Support
Switch Pro will play back embedded CEA-608 and CEA-708 captions, as well SCC, DVB, TTML (iTT and SMPTE-TT captions), WebVTT, SRT, and STL subtitle files. Switch Pro offers full support for CEA-708 caption decoding, including advanced 708-only features like Unicode character support. Switch Pro will also decode captions from virtually all wrappers and formats, so you can verify captions within your MXF or Transport Stream file.
Check Features
Inspect All Properties of Your Media File
Check video and audio properties such as audio channels, speaker labels, aspect ratio, clean aperture, bitrate, frame rate, metadata, encoding formats, and more.
Add Secondary Files
You can also load secondary audio or closed caption files to check sync.
Audio Meters
Use the Audio Meters to solo or mute audio channels and inspect true peaks and momentarily loudness values.
Loudness Panel
Switch Pro adds a loudness panel that calculates gated (BS.1770-3) or ungated (BS.1770-2) loudness levels.
Compare Alternate Media
Open additional media files to compare with your primary media file. Up to sixteen alternate media files can be opened. Once opened, all files are listed on the View > Alternate Media File menu where they can be shown in Full View, Split View, or Difference View. This feature is useful for checking your multiple adaptive bitrate files in ABR workflows or easy comparison of multiformat media.
Timeline
Use the Timeline feature to view the GOP structure of a video segment, highlighting the I, P, and B frames. You can also see the data rate information associated with the video.
Preview to External Monitors
Preview your files on a broadcast monitor or other devices. Switch Pro supports HDMI/SDI hardware output via AJA or Blackmagic Design devices for preview and quality check. Switch supports the Blackmagic Design SDK, and AJA Kona 4, Kona 3G, T-TAP, Io 4K, and Io XT. Switch Pro also lets you view Vertical Ancillary (VANC) data on an external monitor.
DPP/AMWA Certified Player
Switch Player lets you visually QC DPP files on the desktop, playing back the files as well as displaying DPP AS-11 MXF metadata. Switch was among the first players to achieve DPP/AMWA certification as part of the DPP (Digital Production Partnership)'s Compliance Program.
Enough Information but Not Too Much
Switch displays all the relevant media information about your file in an intuitive, well-organized interface. The inspector is deep enough to be meaningful, without giving users so much information that it becomes cumbersome.
Fix Features
Make Changes to Your File and Export
By switching to edit mode, users can modify settings and export a new file. Switch Pro lets you specify a new file format or new video or audio codec; trim, scale, or crop the video; and much more. Export to Apple ProRes (Windows version only), H264, MPEG-2 Video, MP4, MPEG-2 program streams and transport streams.
Add Metadata
Switch Pro also allows you to add metadata to your files.
Rewrap Files
Switch includes the ability to pass-through audio and video on export, or omit the video and export as an audio only file.
Powerful Audio Editing
In the audio tab, you can split or join different audio tracks, rearrange audio tracks, change speaker assignments, and change the audio format and sample rate. Switch Pro also supports downmixing: take a file with eight channels and mix it down to stereo.
Delivery Features
More Publishing Options
Export your video directly to Vimeo, YouTube, or Facebook from within Switch Pro. Select export, choose your destination, and Switch Pro will publish directly to your destination and save a local copy on your computer. Switch will create the appropriate files for your destination, taking the guesswork out of encoding and submitting content.
Streamlined Creation of iTunes Store Packages
Choose the iTunes export preset to create packages ready for distribution to the iTunes store. This creates an asset-only iTunes package file (.itmsp), which includes the media content, secondary subtitle or audio files, chapter information, and an XML file.
