The Formatt-Hitech 100mm Firecrest Ken Kaminesky Signature Edition Master Filter Kit contains five solid Firecrest ND filters, including 0.9, 1.8, and 3.0 densities, to provide 3, 6, and 10 stop reductions in exposure, and soft-edge graduated 0.6 and 0.9 densities for smooth 2 and 3 stop selective adjustments in a scene. A 105mm circular polarizing filter is also included for minimizing reflections and glare as well as enhancing color and tonal saturation. Additionally, also packaged in this kit is a 100mm filter holder, an adapter ring for attaching the holder to lenses with 77mm threads, a polarizer adapter ring, filter pouches, and a booklet authored by Ken Kaminesky.

Filters

Solid Neutral Density
The included Firecrest IRND 3.0, 1.8, and 0.9 filters are solid neutral density filters providing 10, 6, and 3 stop reductions in exposure, respectively. The consistent density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or longer shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Graduated Neutral Density
The included Firecrest Soft Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 and 0.6 filters helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filters are densest at the edge and taper to clear by the middle, with soft-edged lines of transition between the density and clear areas for working in situations where there is not a distinct line of separation between the bright and dark zones of the image.

Firecrest IRND
The IRND design of these filters have been optimized for use with digital sensors and promote nearly flat attenuation of visible, UV, and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. These filters provide a high level of neutrality across all three spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks.
Applied to the outside of the Schott Superwite glass construction is a 15-layer Firecrest multi-coating, which helps to minimize reflections and flare in order maintain truer colors and contrast. The multi-coating is also scratch-resistant and hydrophobic to benefit the overall durability of the filters. Additionally, these filters are 0.08" / 2mm-thick, making them compatible with the included 85mm Filter Holder.

Circular Polarizer
The included Firecrest SuperSlim circular polarizer helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. This filter is constructed from Schott Superwite optical glass for maintained image quality and is set in a 7.5mm-thick aluminum filter ring, which features front threads for stacking additional filters.

Additional Kit Components

Filter Holder and Adapter Rings
The included 100mm Aluminum Modular Filter Holder accepts up to three filters at once, but can be modified to accept differing numbers of filters through the use of optional spacers and screws depending on personal needs. It attaches to the lens through the use of the included 77mm Adapter Ring. Additionally, a dedicated adapter ring for connecting the polarizer filter is also included.

Ken Kaminesky Photography Booklet
Besides the filters and holder included in the kit, a booklet of Ken Kaminesky's work is also included for inspiration and a closer look at how he utilizes this system of filters for his own photography.
