The EOS C200 - a compact 4K Cinema camera for ultimate creativity and flexibility
The EOS C200 is the first Cinema EOS camera to support the new RAW recording format - Cinema RAW Light - which offers the same flexibility in terms of color rendering as Cinema RAW - with less file size, enabling internal recording on a CFast 2.0 ™ card.
Newly developed Canon Dual DIGIC DV 6 processors enable recording of 4K UHD / 50P MP4, 4K DCI RAW and continuous at 120 frames / sec HFR (high frame rate) in full HD without cropping. At the same time, improvements to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology and a new LCD touch screen ensure smooth autofocus and efficient tracking.
Functionality inspires creativity
EOS C200 is equipped with Canon's 8.85 effective megapixel Canon 4K Super 35mm CMOS sensor and a newly developed Dual DIGIC DV6 image processor. That means it is possible to record in Cinema RAW Light format with 4K DCI 50P internally on a CFast 2.0 ™ card. It is also possible to record in 4K UHD with 150 Mbps and 2K or full HD with 35 Mbps on SD card in MP4 format.
With support for up to 15-stop dynamic range with Cinema RAW Light and up to 13-stop dynamic range in MP4 (Canon Log / Log 3), the camera captures highlights in highlights and shadows.
The EOS C200 also incorporates both slow and fast movie recording at up to 120 frames per second without full HD / MP4 cropping, which is perfect for creative slow motion recording.
ISO range from 100 to 102 400 ensures excellent performance even in difficult lighting conditions, for example, when quickly switching between recording locations. Built-in ND optical filters with up to 10 stops provide additional flexibility and allow filmmakers to shoot in bright light and extend depth of field control.
Advanced operation and ergonomic design
The EOS C200 is designed for pros and fits perfectly for missions alone. The camera is equipped with an advanced auto focus system that delivers reliability and accuracy when shooting in 4K format, as well as an LCD touch screen where movie makers can easily select the subject. If you need to switch between different scenes in a recording, Dual Pixel CMOS AF provides smooth autofocus, while the manual focus assist features, face-priority face detection and face-to-face capabilities give you more creative focus control.
The lightweight Eos C200 camera body of just 1.4 kilograms is designed for comfortable handheld shooting, and is a great advantage for long shots. The compact size also makes the camera suitable for mounting on drone or in gimbal.
With built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, you can operate the camera from a web browser and transfer files via FTP. The camera is also compatible with a variety of new and exciting accessories, including Canon's electronic finder, the EVF-V70.
Cinema RAW Light - Next Generation Workflow
Canon has partnered with several partners to ensure that the Cinema RAW Light format integrates into different software [i] . As a result, you can now edit the Cinema RAW Light video format in DaVinci Resolve from Blackmagic Design. It is also possible to edit in Media Composer from Avid Technology using the Canon RAW Plugin for Avid Media Access [ii] . The format can also be edited using the Canon program RAW Development [iii] .
It is also planned that EDIUS Pro, Grass Valley's editing program, will receive support for Cinema RAW Light during 2017. In addition, a future version of Final Cut Pro X from Apple Inc. will support Canon's Cinema RAW Light format at using the Canon RAW Plugin for Final Cut Pro X.
Future firmware upgrade
Canon's XF-AVC video format will be available in a future firmware upgrade. This upgrade is free and will be available in the first half of 2018.
